Joe Taslim (birthname: Johannes Taslim) is an Indonesian Chinese martial arts actor of international renown, making a big splash in international genre moviemaking in his third movie, director/writer Gareth Evans’ wildly received Indonesian action thriller, The Raid (2011), co-starring Iko Uwais, Donny Alamsyah and Yayah Ruhian, premiering at the Toronto Film Festival, and delivering a profitable (based on estimated costs) $9.3 million return for Sony Pictures Classics (U.S.)/Kadokawa Pictures (Japan)/SND HGC (China)/Koch Media (Germany)/Alliance Films (Canada)/Momentum Pictures (U.K.)/Madman Entertainment (Australia)/Calinos Films (Turkey); Taslim appeared in an uncredited cameo in the sequel, The Raid 2 (2014).

Taslim joined co-star Mo Tse in the English-language Hong Kong action movie, The Furious (2026), with Jeeja Yanin, Brian Le, and Yayan Ruhian under Kenji Tanigaki’s direction, co-written and produced (in part) by Frank Hui, backed by Edko Films/Zhejiang Hengdian Film/XYZ Films, and released wide by Lionsgate Films (International)/Edko Films (Hong Kong).
Joe Taslim was born and raised in Palemberg, Indonesia, by his parents, who are of Chinese descent. Taslim is trained in Wushu, Taekwondo, and Judo. Taslim has been married to his wife, Julia, since 2004; the couple has three children. Taslim’s height is 5’ 11”.
